Hello, hello! I’ve been working on some new pieces for the shop and wanted to give a little update of what’s been added lately. There’s some colorful bead necklaces with vintage and new beads that are perfect for summer. I also have some fun bottle opener and key necklaces made with vintage pendants and reclaimed chains. You will surely be the hit of all your pool parties and summer bbq’s with a bottle opener at the ready ;) There’s also some new vintage and a Last Chance Sale section!
Are you guys ready for the Mad Men finale tonight? I have mixed feelings about it, but always feel sentimental when good things come to an end. Maybe when it’s over people will forget about midcentury furniture so I can go back to finding things at the thrift store again! ;)
This time of year is so gorgeous I just want to be outside as much as possible. I also notice that I go into a bit of panic mode, knowing that soon it will be impossible to hang out outside unless you’re in a pool- it’s like trying to overdose on fresh air to make it through the summer.

I’m honored to be talking on Elise Epp Design about my favorite outfit today. Geez, that’s so hard to choose- but in the end this handmade dress won. Long time readers may recognize this outfit from a post a few years ago, but head on over there to see why it’s my favorite. Prepare to stick around awhile because she has lots of great reads from small biz info, freelance links, design projects, fashion, and even a free illustrated cat wallpaper!
I found out about the Of Matter Etsy shop via Twitter over Thanksgiving weekend. I bought a couple things for myself during their sale that weekend and absolutely love them. I bought the arrow earrings (#5) and necklace (#2), and I really have my eye on more pieces- especially the brass bar ring!
Guess what? Of Matter is having a Fab sale right now…
This is not a sponsored post- I just really love the jewelry :)
So, now that it’s officially summer, let’s talk bathing suits.
I wish I could remember how I stumbled upon Frankie Four, but let’s just say it’s bathing suit heaven for us vintage lovers! I’ve been searching for the perfect vintage suit for years, with no luck. I rarely find them and the fit has never been right. Angela custom makes vintage style suits TO YOUR MEASUREMENTS out of vintage fabric! How cool is that?
Angela is a dream to work with! She works with you on the style and fabric- I fell in love with the minty colored bikini (below, left) and she made me one similar, but with a halter top. I don’t think I’ve ever had a suit so well made, and having a custom fit is the icing on the cake!
But what about the 2nd Hand Pledge, you ask?
Right before The Pledge I ordered a few suits from different online stores with the plan to keep only one, but none of them fit right so I relinquished myself to donning old beach gear this season. I almost made an exception in the pledge guidelines that said I could by a bathing suit :)
When I found the Frankie Four website I was so excited to see the perfect suit, I tried every justification for buying it. “It’s handmade of vintage fabric!”, I told myself. “It’s almost just like buying new underwear!”, I thought. Brian saw my struggles and later told me he wanted to get it for me as an early birthday present- my birthday is at the end of August and swim season is almost over by that point! I found my loophole and I feel good knowing we supported a handmade artist!
This is NOT a sponsored post! I spent SO long looking for the perfect bathing suit and I wanted to share the awesomeness in case you are too!
