Yikes, Stripes!

Swedish Hasbeens

I was thinking as I typed this title that some of you are younger than the reference and I’m not sure if it’s one of those things that carried through the ages?

Enough about me being old… on to the skirt. I recently borrowed this from Kristian, and basically lived in it before having to send it back. As much as I love a quirky print, a classic piece is fun in the sense of endless styling options, and the black and white stripes elevate the interest level.

Another thing I loved about this skirt is the wide elastic waist band. It wasn’t too stretchy and would sit snuggly wherever I placed it. I had fun playing with the length of this skirt by wearing it even higher than my waist, and even folding the waist band down.

skirt: borrowed from Kristian
scarf & top: thrifted
shoes: Swedish Hasbeens
spyglass necklace: in my shop

So in a nutshell, this is THE perfect skirt. I went as far as to scour the internet and stalk ebay for one, to no such luck. Yeah- I get obsessed :)

Also, now is the perfect time to stock up on vintage! The super-sweet Natalie from Sweet and Sour Vintage is offering you guys 25% off in her shop with the code LALAFAUXBOIS. Go shopping!

“Polka dots, checks and stripes- Yikes!” Yes, I totally remember that song!

You look darling here. I always end up pairing it with black, so seeing the florals is inspiring.

I IMMEDIATELY completed the “fruit stripes gum!” part in my head when I read the title. I’m an oldie. :)

What a great idea to wear the skirt higher than your waist! It doesn’t look weird at all! I love stripes, but I’m a bit intimidated by them when it comes to wearing then on piece of clothing myself.

Thanks for the book recommendation! I looked into what it’s about, and it totally sounds like a must read ;p. I’m currently waiting to get 2 books, but I Can Barely Take Care of Myself is on definitely on my list ;).

    Have a fun weekend, Lisa!

Stripes are the best. I feel like they come in the form of tops way more than bottoms so it sounds fun to have a striped skirt to experiment with. And I don’t quite recall that commercial but I definitely remember the gum haha.

I nearly forgot about this skirt – it is the best little piece, right?….I think it’s been a year since I styled it, hehe. You really knocked it out of the park here Lisa. I love it pair with floral and polka dots. Darling to the umpteenth power!
