What to Wear: to a bookstore

what to wear

When I heard this week’s theme of what we would wear to a bookstore, my brain converted it to library, which I guess is better than “shopping on Amazon in my pjs”- another viable direction for me to take this post.

I decided the bookish theme was the perfect opportunity to debut my faux specs on the blog. I’ve always liked the idea of wearing glasses, although I’m sure it will drive me crazy when I start needing readers in coming years ;) Don’t get me wrong- I know the ol’ 20/20 vision has come in handy over the years, but I have secretly coveted glasses since grade school. I was however blessed (sarcasm…) with crooked teeth and never had to go the fake retainer with a paper clip route of my elementary school friends- a real retainer was never far out of reach for me.

When I do make it to the bookstore, I love looking through design books. This book, Naive: Modernism and Folklore in Contemporary Graphic Design, was an xmas gift from my inlaws last year and is an amazing source of inspiration.

What good books have you read lately? I need some recommendations please!

The last two books I finished were Jen Kirkman’s I Can Barely Take Care of Myself and the most recent from David Sedaris- Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls. Both awesome.

Well, there you go- I managed to turn a What to Wear to a bookstore post into mostly talking about glasses and retainers. What to show us your bookstore duds? Link up over at Gypsy in Jasper!

Really cute outfit! I love how everyone seems to have mixed polka dots and stripes together on this prompt!
I also have always wanted to wear glasses, my vision is perfect so I’ve worn fake glasses for a few years now, I actually wore them for this prompt.

Love that dress! I can’t say I miss wearing a retainer whatsoever. blech, haha. And now that I actually wear glasses, I sort of want contacts…you know, for days I feel like switching it up a bit. We’ll see!

Oh that dress with that bow is just so awesome! As someone who’s needed glasses since middle school and can barely read the screen because I haven’t put mine on yet, I have a judgy face. But then again, I was totally one of those paper clip retainer girls, so whatever :-)

Were there kids who ever tried to fake wearing a retainer?? That’s so weird. I hated wearing a retainer, and I don’t appreciate wearing my glasses, either. :P But I must be content….usually I choose to simply not see everything and go without glasses. You look very cute in yours, though!
