vintage here, vintage there…

The other day, I was walking around downtown and I saw an older man dressed in a suit he’s probably had since the ’70s. I was thinking how stylish he looked and then I started thinking about what it must have been like to walk around in the pre-’70s when everyone was wearing the clothes I adore. I was imagining everyone just walking around complimenting everyone’s outfits.

I’m sure it wasn’t like that- I bet everyone just took those pretty mid-century dresses for granted, not realizing the bad choices they would be making once the ’80s rolled around…

lady tie: Flapper Girl
shoes: Goodwill

So, I don’t know about where you live, but it seems like our thrift store’s (especially Goodwill) prices have been skyrocketing. These shoes were $15 but this suede skirt I thrifted in Missouri over Christmas was only $1.50! It seems weird to spend so much on a pair of shoes at Goodwill but, I justified it since they are vintage and really unique. I would totally spend more than that for new shoes, there’s just something about your mindset when you’re in a 2nd-hand store and your spending scale shifts.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

$15 for shoes is a little thrift store spendy, but for THOSE shoes, a steal!

So so glad you got the shoes. I agree – if something is over $6 at the thrift, I am like that’s way toooo expensive. But if they were on clearance at let’s say Target for $20, I would be like what a steal. Totally agree with the change in mindset. I also agree that we were born in the wrong era. :) xo

So true how your mindset changes in thrift stores, although I’ve been trying to keep that mindset in normal stores as well, and actually just avoid normal stores all together. now.. wow, GW is getting so pricey!! def glad you got them though, they are perfect w/ the little square heel and I love your whole vintage vibe here!

  4. ugh, I’ve seen stuff at thrift stores foe $40+ lately, it’s really annoying, it’s just all part of the inflation due to vintage being in such high demand :( and…a lot of them are starting to do their homework and know how much things are worth now

  5. Love the pretty floral blouse and the shoes are amazing! I recently spent $25 on a pair of thrifted winter boots that just about killed me. I almost always will only shop at thrift stores now if its some sort of discount day! There is a thrift chain here called ARC that now is %50 off every Saturday, which to me is the best thing since sliced bread! Also your walking the streets complimenting everyone’s outfits commentary 70s commentary- I seriously just love the idea of it!
    Happy Friday!

You look cute as a button! :) The 80s really were awful, that whole decade should just be erased from fashion history, ha.

You are so lovely and adorable! I love everything about this outfit! There are so many little details to all the pieces, and I’m totally drooling over that awesome skirt!

I love this outfit, Lisa! You’re so good at pairing colors and patterns! Love the lady tie. I love mine, too, but I’ve realized that I need more shirts to be able to wear it more often, haha.

Btw, I haven’t been to Goodwill for a while now, I didn’t know they were raising their prices :/.

Hope your week’s off to a great start! ;D

So true..and so kind of sad – if only they knew what the 80s held. I love this outfit Lisa! It is vintage perfection…as all your outfits are. Sadly our thrift shops have been so barren lately – stocked with 90s/early 00s pieces from the Dress Barn and Deb and places like that….eek! Have a fabulous week darlin! xo Marisa

I love this cute outfit, so Spring!

I hope your Goodwill/thrift store prices don’t get really high like our Charity shops in the UK (at least where I live) – I really miss the bargains of my teens!

Love this outfit! I have that same mint lady tie and it’s the best! I hear ya about Goodwill’s prices! What is up with that!? I try to avoid going there unless it’s 1/2 off Saturday. I’m the same way about thirft store purchases…even though I’d spend $30 on new shoes, I coudln’t see myself spending half that much at goodwill. It’s silly!
