Vintage for the Office

Vintage Plaid Dress

Last week I filled in at the office I used to work at, and while I still stand by NOTHING being better than working from home, it was fun to have an excuse to get dressed each day. There’s really not a dress code for the design department there, so that means I could have fun dressing up, without the pressure of looking super “business-y” (which is not my forte.).

This vintage dress was a gift from a friend (hi Adrienne!) a few years ago, but I realized that I’ve never posted it on the blog before, and that needed to change.

Do you have a dress code where you work? What’s the worst uniform you’ve ever had to wear? Mine was definitely the tux shirt, bow-tie, & cummerbund I wore while working at Hollywood Video- the fanciest minimum wage look ever ;)

I like the bow on the dress :)

Your shoes! I have these cheap Hasbeen knock-off clogs I’ve been wearing non-stop, and I just decided that when they bite the dust, I’m going for it, and getting some real Hasbeens. I spent a while on the website the other night (drooling) and the pair you’re wearing are my FAVE!

My office doesn’t have a dress code, it’s super casual. This is mostly a good thing, but I feel like my heels get totally neglected!

    ? perfectly Priya

Oh man, this is ADORABLE! I love that ribbon- it completely made the dress. I work part time at a financial firm (i know, wut) and they’re pretty lenient about what I wear…or rather, I don’t think they have the heart to tell me to stop wearing it haha. I usually come in with jeans or vintage dresses and they’re all in navy suits. So at least I can get away with it ;)

I had no idea you worked at a financial firm- crazy! It’s funny the office I worked at had no rules for the “creative dept” but everyone else is always biz casual :) Hey I say keep it up as long as you can!

one summer i was working as an orientation leader for incoming freshman at my college. the uniform was a polo shirt with khaki shorts. i loved the job, but can’t handle khaki, so i vowed to never wear khaki pants again after that summer. i know, i have really impressive life goals ;-)

Oh man, I totally feel you! I also worked at Blockbuster and had to wear khakis & a polo & have NEVER worn khakis since! :)

What a spectacular gift! You’re right about the similarity in design of our dresses. I have to say, I love the colors and patterns of this one more. Also, I have a feeling I might have said this already, but those shoes! I love them so much! <3

This dress is so cute! I love the collar and bow on it. My office is pretty relaxed. Business casual three days and casual for two out of the week. So I kind of just wear my normal dresses. I’m not a fan of being too business-y either. I want to feel like myself!

You are too cute! I love this dress and paired with Swedish Hasbeens!!!! Yaaaasssssss! Your hair has stayed pretty pink for awhile now… that’s amazing. Dosn’t it usually fade out really quickly especially in blonde hair right?!?

    • lalafauxbois says:

Thanks Taylor! I’ve been following tips I read for preventing the fade- only washing my hair every 3 days (which is hard!) and add a little pink dye to your conditioner so each time you wash your hair you are brightening it up a little. I think these things have helped, although the roots are starting to creep in ;)

  8. That dress is SO cute! I would love to have seen that uniform from Hollywood Video XD

Thanks Crissy! Haha- oh man, no you don’t! At least I balanced out the tux with wearing black doc martens every day ;)

My uniform used to be: ironic tee shirt + blazer + ripped jeans + converse. That was by choice though. A great look for any 16 year old girl in 2004 or male comedian in 1998.

  10. I absolutely ADORE the collar on this dress! It’s perfect teamed with the ribbon. I’m finding the same as you,now that I think about what to wear to the office- dressing up can be fun! Can’t wait to see if you post more of your office looks xx
