keep it simple, stupid

When it comes to fashion, my natural instinct is to pile on the layers and accessories. Sometimes I have to remind myself of the KISS principle, and keep it simple, stupid. Sometimes it’s better to let the details and patterns speak for themselves and not be overshadowed.

I found this skirt at Buffalo Exchange and I was first drawn to the fun color and bow, but after picking it up, realized how well made it also is. When I got home, I searched the label (Milly of New York) and found that their pieces run in the few hundred dollar range so it was a great score for $20. On that trip I also found two Anthropologie skirts, one with the tags still on, so instead of feeling like I shouldn’t have spent $50, I patted myself on the back for saving about $450 ;) Justification at it’s best.

This week so far at work I’ve been working on a logo for a vintage store. Talk about dream assignment- I wish I could always combine my love of vintage and design. Someday…

Your skirt looks very chic and I love the yellow color. Those kinds of purchases are the best :) Whenever I really want something clothes related that I don’t exactly need, I just go to Crossroads (not sure if you have them but its like Buffalo Exchange) and find something comparable to what I’m looking for so I don’t feel bad about spending money haha.

ugh i have the SAME problem. i feel incomplete if I only have a dress on, but then that leads to some times crazy ensambles haha. and i LOVE your skirt- now that is an amazing find
