I recently thrifted this vintage necktie that I fell in love with. It’s made of a quality wool fabric and I love the subtle pattern. I wanted to wear it without channeling Avril Lavigne, not that there’s anything wrong with that… I’m just a little (okay, a lot!) too old for Avril inspired looks :)

I got this dress early last Spring and the first time I wore it someone asked me if it was Marc Jacobs. Ha! It was obviously someone who didn’t know my clothing budget very well :) Definitely a good F21 score, although after only a couple of washes it’s starting to show it’s “quality”…

Looks great. Love this outfit and don’t worry it’s classy and not”skater boy”. :)
I love that you used a tie for you belt! That is genius! I love it. You looks so great in that outfit!

Oh my goodness, your dress is GORGEOUS! (Job well done, F21 ;) ). Super clever of you to use your tie as a belt too. :)
i hate that- when you wash stuff from f21 and it practically turns to dust! a few items have actually been a pretty good investment for the money. but a few, i’m pretty sad to have lost due to this… meh. x
Oh I love those shoes! I need to find a nice striped top or dress now that i’m heading into summer :)
love it with the tie! such a pretty dress
i found some mens high waisted trousers i really like. :)

cute dress.
Love this! I hoard, aheam, collect, ties for C, and she has about 100 at this point. If, ahem when, you come to the Minne, you should def. shop her closet for new belts. (I won’t tell her.)
that belt, or tie as belt, is AWESOME! i need to do that. now! right now! and i LOVE the briefcase too – very classic. wonderful outfit.

haha i’m not much into Avril’s look either =P and this is SUCH a cute idea! at first glance i thought that the bow came with the dress, i’d never guess it was a neck tie
Oh man, I remember when Avril Lavigne’s look was so fresh and new, and I was a little punk skateboarder and I thought wearing a men’s red necktie was totally the shit. Oh, nostalgia. Now I just think of her as that washed up country singer with a tired look who actually loves Nickelback enough to marry it. So sad. She epitomizes horrible Canadian music. My 13 year old self weeps (but my 23 year old self giggles maniacally).
Anywho, that dress is so cute! It’s nice when F21 has simple dresses like this, they tend to be so flattering, and cheap enough that it isn’t a tragedy when they last barely more than a season.

Haha! This totally cracked me up :)
Awe, I love the idea of wearing a tie as a belt ;)! Well done, Ms Lisa!
Have a fun weekend! ;D
That is such a cute dress! Love the tie with it. I like thrifting because you can find clothing/accessories that are made out of REAL fabrics.
All the reason to avoid doing laundry until it gets stinky I say! But really you look great in that dress and I adore the tie as a belt, you are the best at these simple but original little looks.
I love this look, and especially how you repurposed the necktie into a bow tie belt. Bow tie belts are so sweet! -Jessica L
Most brilliant way to wear a tie…ever! You seriously have the cutest outfits Lisa!
Love this!!!!!!
I would follow your blog but I don’t know how. :(

What a clever way to wear a neck tie! I also frequently(perhaps too frequently) worry about looking a little young when I wear neck ties.
I got a compliment on a dress I wore last summer, somewhere along the lines of “is that from Anthropologie?” HA! Try Target! It’s even better when someone makes that comment on something I thrifted….sweet victory!
